So you're having a baby.  You have a small car.  Do you buy a new car?  If buying a larger car isn't an option, then there are still child car seats that will fit nicely in a small compact car.

We're not going to confuse you with all the models available or whether you want a capsule or just a convertible child car seat.  This is just a review on one model from the major brands that is suitable for small cars.  All the models reviewed are suitable from birth to 4 years old.  These are convertible child seats that are fitted in a rearward facing position from birth to a up to 30 months are the forward facing up to 4 years old.

The models we are comparing is the Maxi Cos Vela Slim, Infasecure Attain More and the Britax Safe-n-Sound Graphene.  All 3 models are suitable from birth to 4 years old.  All are suitable for rearward facing from birth to 30 months.  These models all have ISOFIX fitting.

Rather than taking the specifications from the manufactures website, we have manually measured the width and rearward facing distance of these seat in our store. The widths provided are very close to what we measured.  However, the rearward facing distance is nowhere near what the specifications had.  We basically set each seat in a rearward position and measured the required distance needed to fit in the back seat of your vehicle.

Maxi Cosi Vela Slim

The Maxi Cosi Vela Slim has a width of 46cm and rearward facing distance of 74cm.

Infasecure Attain More

The Infasecure Attain More has a width of 44cm and a rearward facing distance of 70cm.

Conclusion

The measurements are a good guide, however, depending on the design of the interior of your vehicle certain car seats will fit better.
